Hello, I need to remove the installing administrator that set up the forums on my site and says that he set himself up as uno. I took the forum off line to stop any further admin work by this person. I would like to bring it back up as an archive forum with no further posting, deleting or modifying by him or anyone else. I have changed passwords to stop him from FTPing, but if I bring the site back online he will have access by log in until I can get him removed.
Help/suggestions

Change his password, edit config.asp and remove him as Super Admin, possibly you put in the Super Admin position, drop his member level back to normal user. That way you can even operate the forums like they used to. |

Thanks Laser, Since I didn't set up the forum, can you advise how to edit the config.asp file.
I found it, opened it in an editor and didn't see anything that related to him.
BTW, in the members section, the block on the right end than can be used to edit, lock, or delete a member is blank on his profile line.
thanks

Should be around line 75...
Const intAdminMemberID = ****
Take out his member id# (in red) and put in yours. You can find yours by going to your profile and looking at the end of the url.
You should then be able to edit him normally. |

Ahhh, No wonder I couldn't find it. One line 76 it is (Const intAdminMemberID = 1) Since it is a number, where would I look for my number to put in as a replacement?

Thanks for the tips it worked. I had already changed the account password and the FTP password, now his password, and made him a normal user.
Is he locked out now?

If you changed his password he is ... for a while. He can always click on "forgot password" and get one re-issued, but he will just be a normal user.
To lock him out completely, lock his account now. |

I have locked all of the forums to make it read only for the present time. Made him a normal user. I am less concerned about his presents, as long as he isn't doing admin chores.
There might be less questions to answer by other members if I didn't lock him out.

If you've made him a normal user, then you can open the forums again. He can't do anything that any other user can do. |
