Hi all, This is probably a stupid question, but is it possible to do any form handling or run a forum on a web site that is not located on a web server? I am responsible for a small intranet web which serves about 30 people. The web is located on a network drive to which everyone has access, and that's how the pages are read. I use FP2000, which has support for form handlers and forums, but all of these require the MS Server Extensions. In the FP2000 help file, it said that form handling could also be done without the SE if one uses a "custom script." I understand that for the PWS, my computer would have to be 'on' the whole time (which ain't gonna happen).Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Probably there is a way, but why the aversion to a web server on your network? I wouldn't try to run 30 users on PWS (or even 3), but IIS works just fine on NT or W2K. An IntraNet without a web server seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me. Or stick a Linux box on your network and run Apache, and leave it on, you should be able to do that for under $100.00 US.
I wouldn't spend time & effort trying to run outside a web server, myself.

Thanks for the reply. I fully agree with you but I work in a big, slow moving company with a suspicious IT department. I already approached them once about setting up a web server and they said no. Can I do those things you suggested without involving IT support? Probably not, I would guess. Maybe I should try to convince them again. What other arguments are there for running a web server besides forums, form handling, search capabilities??
