Newbie here, searched around for a while and tried to learn but not getting very far.

I would like to set up a forum for a client but haven't had much luck.

I have MS and Linux accounts for hosting. I have tried to create the forum as a MS Access and as a MySQL.

Here is the link for each:

Access: http://www.brokedownmelodies.com/leseason/forum2/setup.asp?RC=2&MAIL=&VER=&strDBType=access&EC=-2147217865

- get the error code : -2147467259 (again searched it but stumped)

MySQL:
http://www.txgeeks.com/leseason/forum/setup.asp

- all I get is a huge page full of text.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The error with Access is the common "updateable query" error. You need to assign read/write permissions on the database file and folder, for the anonymous internet user.

I bet the MySQL install is being done on Linux machine, without Sun ONE ASP installed. Without it Snitz won't be able to run.
Why don't you use the web server you're using with the Access install and the MySQL Db in the Linux server (presuming you're using a MySQL DB in the same Linux server you're using for the second install)?

Thanks for the quick response. I spent some time on the phone (~45 mins) this evening with my host and got the read/write permissions fixed.

I ran the setup again on the Access db and it was successful! I have a forum now!

Now I just have to figure out how to modify it...

Thanks again.
