Sorry if an answer is posted elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything by searching nor anything in the read me or faqs...
When you archive messages in a forum, what exactly is happening? I haven't actually done it yet, as I've seen posts in here about not being able to undo whatever archive does, so I'm just trying to find out what actually happens (database-wise, forum interface-wise, message organization-wise, etc.) before I do anything with it.
Thanks!

Actually it locks them srom everything, you can't post, move and I don't think you can delete them. By doing this it speeds up your search page and other stuff I presume. |

you can delete them, but you have to do so through the admin archive functions.
yes it speeds up general searching as it only searches live posts by default, it also speeds up forum/topic access because it reduces the number of posts in the live tables |

Wicked, thanks for the info.
So basically it's "flattening" the messages. From the user perspective, do archived posts appear in a seperate section of the forum?
Gracias! |

Check the "A" folder on these forums, you'll see exactly how it works. |
