Well Santa bought me a new (well 2nd hand) PC and it came pre-installed with XP MCE. I've been enjoying it immensely, installed all my programs and files, everything working great until I go to install SQL 2000 Developer Edition.
... I get no error messages, the setup file just stalls. Googling reveals other people have had issues installing SQL 2000 on XP MCE too. I get conflicting reports though that the Developer Edition 'should' install just fine.
I can only find information for SQL 2005 on the Microsoft site.
I only need Query Analyser and EM off the disk as I have a seperate test server running the dbs.
Anyone come across this and were able to resolve it without reformatting and installing XP Pro?
heh - MCE is just XP with some pre-installed extensions, but it's OEM only (for driver support) so app conflicts are possible (targetted at different user profiles) but uncommon (as MCE is XP in drag). Glad you got it working :)
