Posts are posted to a server, the nature of HTTP is that it is stateless, so you have no permenant connection to the server. The only way you could do this would be to write a local/desktop app that polls the server every minute or five, and if there's a new post, to alert you.
You could try watching the RSS feed, and you may even find an RSS client that will 'boing' when there's a new feed time - that would be the easiest way, I suppose
