The title says it all.
I´ve tried: http://free.grisoft.com but it crashes constantly, even on a fresh XP install.
Any recommendations ? |

I've used Grisoft AVG in conjunction with Zone Alarm on an older pc running Windows 98SE and have never had any issues with it doing what it's supposed to. (aside from speed, but thats because of a lack of memory on the machine, which is something me and the pc have in common.) |

Here's another online one that has not only a great virus scanner, but also includes information on the newest viruses:

-Edit: From rereading the posts, I think you wanted an installable version. This version is simply an online way to get your computer scanned. Not a preventative measure. Jon |

I've been using AVG and Zone Alarm for quite some time now on all my XP boxes. No problems yet.
MaximumPC did a review not too far back of a good free virus scanner. Unfortunately I don't have the issue at work, nor do I remember the name. |

I've been using AVG for about four years now and love it. I recommend it to everybody I know. |

What I find great about it it's it's minimal footprint, constant free updates and that it picks up a lot of stuff that others don't even see. Got my vote anyday. |

This has been kinda bothering me, so I started digging around in the documentation and I was wondering, are you using the 64-bit edition of Win XP? |
