Hi all,

I am working on a site and Iwant to add these forums to it. Simple so far.

I want to do this:
www.mysite.com is mysite.
forums.mysite.com is snitz

I would like to be able to have one registration for both sites.

What info, at a minimum, would I need to collect and store in snitz while I'm stroing it at mysite.

Second.

I would like to have one login for both sites so when you logged into my site your also logged into the snitz.

How does one set the cookies in snitz for this. Also because I will be using a sub domain for snitz I will be using the cookie.domain.

Has anyone ever done this before.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

JB

I would advise you to use the Snitz tables, as well, otherwise you will need to change a lot of code. The Snitz cookies are handled by the DoCookies function, so as long as you create the cookies as they are done there, you will be able to login automatically to Snitz.

Hi Rui,

Thanks for the info.

Where would I find the registration information or procedures so I can have a look at them as well. I assume that the checking for Unique fileds, email ,uernames is done in asp or is it also checked in the SQL Server?

Thanks,

JB

Things are checked mainly in the ASP code. You can have a look at register.asp.

Hi Roger,

That was some good help!

However, I was planning on doing all of the login on www.mysite.com.

I'm just curious about that pesky session thingy between domains seeing that the forum is at forums.mysite.com

I belive I can write the cookie path ok from www.mysite.com.

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, the site at www.mysite is asp.net written in vb. If that makes adifference.
