Hi all,
I am fairly new to Snitz and I have to say I am extremely impressed by how good the forum software is. I have recently installed two forums using Snitz and I now wish to merge them together as one forum but with the different forums as different categories.
I know that I am going to have to script it to renumber IDs etc, but I was just wondering if anyone had done this before, or if there is an easy way before I write a script to do it!
Many thanks for your time,
Chris |

afaik you'll be best off to do this for yourself - as you're clearly aware of renumebering/referential integrity etc you won't find this too challenging - just make sure you start with the parent tables and then work down to the children. |

Thanks Pdrg,
I will give it ago this afternoon. I think that it should be relatively straight forward, although I intend to script it so that it happens automatically, ie very little downtime for the forums!
I will try and write a howto incase anyone wishes to do this in the future!
Many Thanks,
Chris |

Blimey! That took longer that expected! I think the issue that took the time was that I was merging two snitz forums and one other forum that I wrote myself with over 32000 messages in it!
All worked in the end lovely though except a few statistics which I will now need to update! Do you think that it is worth me writting a howto article on this? If there is likely to be any interest I will give it a go!
Thanks for your support!
Chris

always worth documenting what you did - post it up here so people can search it, it'll become part of the collaborative body of knowledge that this forum is! |

Yes, do post it up. I'm sure that more than a few people will come through looking for something like that. |
