Is it possible to do one or both of the following:
- Email a daily digest to a subscriber at a set time, rather than have individual emails sent during the day
- Have a forum which consolidates all NEW topics, spanning all Forums
The reason being: how does someone who is a member of a Board with multiple Categories/Forums keep track of all that is newly posted without tediously clicking on EVERY Category/Group/Forum???
Thanks,
Gerrett |

isn't it what the active topics page does? |

Ah, yet another ill-described feature of this Forum.
Really, somebody should do a much better job of documenting features - many of them are clear as mud.
Thanks for the tip, though... that is what I was looking for.

Hi Gerrett, if you want to get involved casting an eye over documentation and rewriting parts that are not clear, I'm sure it'd be welcomed in the community |

Thanks for the offer. I accept. I was an English major in college, and my job today includes lots of editing (technical manuals).
I am a fairly computer-savvy guy (having owned a regional ISP in the '90's, and now managing a class C mini-ISP). My primary job is the VP/GM of an electronics company. I occasionally do tech support, and I often find that what we (the company) finds obvious is usually very obtuse to the user. That is because we are too close to the product.
The other BBS product that I am using, WebBBS, is very well documented, clearly showing what every 'switch' does. No question that Snitz is a better board, but some of the things that it can do are not clear at all.
Just last week, a poster to this forum asked, very clearly, to have Groups/Categories explained. The response from someone here was so obtuse; I was amazed. Surely 'we' can do better.
BTW, the tech support on this Forum is AWESOME. Every question I have asked has been answered quickly and correctly. But I bet better documentation (online or embedded in the readme) would eliminate many questions.
Take a look at my FAQ on my Forum (just started), www.m-100.cc/forum/default.asp. I think I explain some topics better than the Snitz documentation.

Hehehhe ... should I tell you what I thought this thread was about : "New Topics" only forum
Using those 4 words I thought you meant you wanted to setup a forum where people could only start a new thread, but no replies were allowed. Then I open the thread and start reading and realise you mean something completely different - see, it's all in the language and words used. The documentation is quite good, but sometimes it's written more as a reminder rather than for someone trying to learn. |
