Hello,
Im trying to install Davio's private messaging Mod and Hamlin's avatar Mod from Snitz Bitz.com. Since my server dosent support the select object box on the mod setup page, I will have to use the alternative mod setup and enter a code. Can somebody give me the codes for the 2 mods to go into the alt mod setup box please, since they are not included in the read-me?
Also, since I have to use alt mod setup every time I want to install a mod, am I going to have to post here every time I want the code? Or is there an easier way to do this?!
Thanks alot!

If you have a look at the redames again, one of the first instructions is to upload a file called dbs_something.asp to your server. If you open these files in your text editor, you'll find the code you need.

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

You need to find the files in the mod dowloads that start with "dbs". For the Private Messages mod it should be dbs_PrivateMessages.asp and for the avatar mod it should be dbs_avatar.asp. Open each of these files, one at a time, and copy its contents into the Alternate mod setup window and execute it. Do this for one, execute it and do it for the other.
Every mod has a dbs file. Just use it in the manner just described. |

Thats great thanks, it worked. The only reason I asked is becasue when I tried that for the active user mod it didnt work, so I thought it would be the same result this time.
Thanks again!

Hello again!
I have the pm mod up and running now, thanks for your help! There are just 2 problems:
1. Signatures have been replaced with the date and time the post was made! In format YearMonthDateHourMinuteSecond 2. I tried to send a private message, and this came up: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126'
Include file not found
/myforumdirectory/privatesend.asp, line 45
The include file 'inc_code.asp' was not found.
So I took a look for inc_code.asp in my forum directory, and the file dosent even exist! I checked the zip where I downloaded the forum in the first place and it wasnt there either. All I have is inc_code.js
Any help is always greatly appreciated!

Ok I have added <!--#INCLUDE FILE="inc_code.js"--> into line 45. It works now, but there is an odd occurance. When I load the page now to send someone a PM, I see all the text from the inc_code.js file on the page, and to get to where I type in the message, I have to scroll down through it all to the bottom of the page. And the same happens after I click send and the message sent page comes up, this file wanted the line as well.
So how can I stop this all from appearing?
Thanks again!

1. Go over the instructions in the readme again and re-do topic.asp . If you can't find the error, post a txt version of your topic.asp so someone here can have a look.
2. I looked at my privatesend.asp and there is no inclusion of inc_code.js anywhere in that file. Are you sure you didn't accidentaly take out any of the includes? The three I have at the top of my privatsend.asp are config.asp, inc_func_posting.asp and inc_header.asp . |

Ok Jorrit787, I have changed the top of privatesend.asp to the 3 include files you mentioned. Now when I try to load the pm send page, this is what comes up:
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/myforumdirectory/inc_header.asp, line 41
Dim StopWatch(19) ----^
I didnt even alter any lines there for installation, so im a bit confused by this!
Thanks!

Ok here I am again. This time, while I wait for assistance with private messaging, I need some help with an avatar mod by Hamlin.
I have completed all modifications needed, but if I go into my profile to select an avatar, nothing comes up about selecting avatars, and if I chose to just view my profile, it says No Avatar Selected". Since they are both on pop_profile.asp I did all the modifications again to the file to see, but this hasnt made any difference, and I havent found any errors.
Help for both problems is greatly welcomed.
Thanks! |

Back for trouble, yet another problem.
Ive been looking around my forum, and I noticed when I click on "Members" at the top of the page to see the members list, it takes me to my old forum. You see I had another snitz 3.4.05 forum on my server, but on a different location, and I was installing the active user mod on it, and I made a mistake, and wrecked the whole thing, so I started another forum on a new location, the one im using now, using the database from the old forum, so all members and posts etc would still be there. So Ive had no problems so far, until I saw the members button was linking me to the old forum, all the other links up there like search and active topics lead me to the forum im using now with no problem, its just the members link. I have re-done several files and uploaded them with the modifications for the mods (which by the way, still failed to fix the pm and avatar problems I mentioned in my last 2 posts!) and it still hasnt corrected the members link problem.
My forum is a river of problems!
Thanks again!

Do you have inc_header.asp included twice? |

ON your old forum, are you using the same database? More thenlikely you need to edit the Forum Config under Admin options so the forum URL actually goes to where the forum is located. |

Congradulations Zuel, you have solved the pm problem! Thank you very much! Yes inc_header was was in twice in privatesend.asp at the top and down under '################################################################################# '## Page-code start '#################################################################################
So I deleted the one under page-code start, and its working correctly now.
Only 2 problems left!
Thanks again!
