I have adjusted my clock for UK time (+8hrs) in the admin setup, but the clock still showsincorrect time. It shows 6 minutes fast when posts are made. How can I alter the clock?

yep, clocks drift, it's part of life. Your host should do this for you, it's a 2-minute job :)

I'm glad this was brought up.

My host doesn't seem to know how to correct the clock on my forum. Could someone post the process here so I could send the instructions to him?

Thanks-
Nina

Some host.

They just need to double-click the clock on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and set the time from there.

It depends .... if the clock is out by hours, then it's your responsibility as an admin to adjust the offset properly.

If the clock is out by a few minutes you can probably live with it. I would guess that most proper hosts have their clocks synced via the net anyway - no ?

Windows 2003 synchronises the computers clock with a central clock automatically. As far as I know, Windows 2000 and earlier does not.

Win2K can. It wasn't the best, but it was functional.

Interestingly it can lead to problems when clocks are badly out-of-sync, as I discovered with early Virtual Server images. Funny old world.

Um ... If your host doesn't know how to adjust the clock on the server, I'd recommend finding yourself a new host as soon as possible!

Thanks for all the help.

I can't make excuses for my host's lack of knowledge but I think he's a little confused when it comes to Snitz forums. He's never worked with providing a forum before, and he might be afraid of gumming up the whole works.

I'll pass on the info about changing the server's clock - and that will automatically change the clock on my forum as well? It's only off by 20 minutes.

yep - all he has to do is change the clock on the server for it to be right and your forum will sufddenly show the right time (if you have the +8/whatever) offset set!
