Hi,
I have installed snitz many times without problems always using the MS Access DB. Now I need to do a new install using SQL Server and not Access. Do I need to convert the MS Access DB to MS SQL or does the DB need to be created from scratch?
Appreciate any help or ideas.
Thanks! |

Snitz supports SQL Server installs as native, just uncomment/recomment the connection strings you need/don't need, and proceed just the same as with an Access install :)

Hi, I know about the connections strings. I am asking about the Access database. Do I need to convert it, change the extension, or what? |

If you are going to use SQL Server, why would you do anything with the Access Db? As long as you specify a SQL Server connection string and a strDBType of "sqlserver", setup.asp will create all the needed tables in the SQL Server DB. Reading the readme file is also recommended. |

Pardon me if I seem really ignorant on this but as I explained, I have never done this with MS SQL. With Access, I would take the DB, put it in a directory then I would be done.
The DB that comes with Snitz is an Access DB.
Question - Do I need to do anything with it, conver it, etc?
I know what to do with the connection string and how to run setup.asp.
Please answer if you only know and have done this. Thanks! |

I don't usually answer unless I know what I'm talking about. You could please read the replies that several people have posted before and not thinking that you know better than them!
The readme file explains how to do it. pdrg told you how to do it. I told you how to do it. If you choose not to heed our advice then don't, but don't pretend that you know better.
I'll never understand how people come for help and then choose to disregard the help given and even imply that those who replied don't know what they're talking about! |

Zenfor, forget about Access ! If you want to use MSSQL, select it in the config.asp file - thatīs it ! You donīt need to think, worry or upload any Access DB. |

Thanks and sounded good until I checked the docs again and reading the instructions below, there is indeed more I need to do. Does the database need to have all the tables or do the automatically get created? This is the kind of specific info I am looking for? Has anyone done this before? Appreciate any help. Please don't anyone just tell me to read the documentation. It's just not being helpful and I have read them and it's not clear. Thanks!
Before installing on an MS SQL or MySQL database, you need to have a database already created to use. This can be a new, empty database, or an existing database that you are using for the rest of your site. If you are unsure which database you can use, please contact your host and ask them which one they support. |

The reply was given 3 times. It's more than enough. I'm locking this!

You don't even seem to read what people have posted, so this thread is a waste of time! |
