I read this the other day - how frightening is this...?

I don't get how we're any safer now with Chip&PIN (so it is time for his disclosure) if the architecture of PIN is flawed like it sounds from this article? Do I really fully totally trust that the whole system is robust, having learned that it isn't?

This is a parallel issue to electronic voting machines - is it safer to have a full community audit of the architecture and code or not? Does source access mean more attack vectors (which get closed quickly), or fewer, but never known about ones?

Questions, questions...
