I am in the process of setting up a new forum for the school I work for and would REALLY appreciate some help. Never set up a forum before so this is all new to me.
Using Access, and Snitz V3.4.05
Firstly, do I need to edit the "inc_mail.asp" file or just configure the mail settings within the 'Admin Options' of the forum?
The email component I've selected is MDaemon (as MDaemon/Worldclient is our email provider).
I do not get any sort of error message when sending an email, it simply tells me the message has been sent, except none are getting through (I've set up 4 users in my department for testing purposes, all having same probs).
We are running the forum on our Intranet server - would this have anything to do with the problem?
If there is a step by step guide to how to correctly configure the email I would appreciate a link, or if anyone has any ideas to point me in the right direction that would be great. I'm not THAT technical so simple language for my simple mind would help!
Also, an additional query (or poss related?). When I login as administrator I can not change the email address for the profile, it always reverts back to yourmail@server.com. Is this related to the above problem, or is this because the address should be specified in 'Admin Options/Email Server Configuration' - which it is anyway.
Many thanks for any help you can give. |

you should not need to edit inc_mail.
The reason you can't change the admin email is as you correctly assumed part of the same problem, in order to change a profiles email it must first send an email to verify the change, if no verification happens the email will not change.
Does your mail server require smtp authentication ? if so you may need to edit inc_mail , but you will also need to check that the MDaemon component supports smtp authentication
Unfortunately there is no step by step guide as every component and web setup are different. |
