I've been spending a lot of my spare time (heh) on a new demo CD for Jesus Joshua. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me figure out just what kind of system requirements this thing has on it.
I know that it will be limited to Windows (due to the use of the Windows Media component). Beyond that, I'm not too sure.
Here is a link to the Nero Image file (for some reason it won't let me make a standard .iso ) I have it zipped, and its still about 360 or so MB in size.... one of those downloads you start before you go to bed.
I'm looking for system configurations and if everything worked. It should play the four songs in a standard CD player, and run a small program on the PC that has an about-the-band type video (you've got to watch the outtakes after the credits), and a few other things.
Have Fun! |

Thanks. As soon as it's finished uploading I'll post the link.
I'll warn you now, dial-up users beware: zipped the image file is approx. 380MB. |

I see a lot of people have at least read this. Has anybody downloaded it and tried it out? I've tested it on the 4 computers I've got at home, but they're all WinXP SP2, at least 256 MB RAM, and all running Windows Media 10 and the latest version of Flash...
I don't think I'm representative of the "typical" computer user That's why I'd like some people to test it out. Please let me know how everything goes.
Thanks. |

Thanks. This has been an interesting project. The intro animation has gone through 4 very different versions - with lots of variations on each; the video has gone through a few different versions - only to settle on the first version ... ah the joys of working with artists! |

Mmm, in general I find it is the clients that have no idea what they want rather than the artists who cause problems with stuff like this. |

Hi AnonJr,
I live just below Charlotte, North Carolina. Ha - and I run a very old machine (AMD-K6 3D Processor, Win98SE, 192MB RAM). Is the email in your profile active? I'll send you an email with my particulars. I am on a dial-up, so a download isn't really feasible. I wouldn't mind giving you my postal mail address for a CD through snail mail though. Cheers,
Etymon

AnonJr, I would, but I'm afraid my laptop is even less typical than most - got it all set up for AVID so I'd make an unreasonable tester :(
Is it something you could put on VCD/DVD and test in a DVD player, or is it all too interactive? |

I'll second that! How much easier would all our jobs be if it weren't for clients?!

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

That's in the works for a future project....
The image above is for a mixed-mode CD that will play the 4 songs in a set-top CD player (it ran on my 11-year-old sterio so that must be ok), and if you put it in a PC it will run a small program I put together using AutoPlay Media Studio 4. The program has a neat Flash intro, the 4 mp3s, a short (12 min.) video, and links to the websites for Jesus Joshua, Warsong Records, and SoulJoy Records (the company that prints their CDs). Its got a fairly simple menu, and I do have plans to put together a DVD version of it soon. I guess the short answer is "not yet".
Etymon, when I get home tonight I'll check that account. If you send me an address I'll be more than happy to send you a disk. Maybe when the new CD is finished you can come catch a concert since we're just outside of Fayetteville.

In this case the Artist and the client are one and the same!
Bobby's a wonderful guy, and I love him to death (in the Christian way, not the New Hampshire way)... but he sure has a knack for testing the programmer's capabilities! Seriously though I've learned a lot about working with audio through helping them keep thier studio computer up and running.
Anybody else get a chance to try it out? |

Saw the e-mail yesterday and I'll try to get it in the mail today or tomorrow today I was able to get it to the post office before they closed. Right now the guys are in the studio recording their 3rd CD (2nd one they've done in thier own studio), but I know that when they finish they'll be traveling some.
Has anybody gotten a chance to test it yet? |

Cool. What kind of system specs? Ever since Will told me that the Flash animations didn't run right on his computer I've been worried about it not working right... I went in and bumped the flash animations compatability level down to Flash Player 4. |
