Hi I have a couple of questions and would appreciate any help or advice.
1. Is there a snitz forum you can download and install with all the mods already in place? 2. Are there any people around that might be able to edit my files for me.
I've managed to install the following mods with 100% success. -Events -Avatars -IP Ban -Site Integration -Active Users -Chat
I'm not lazy but I'm stuck and can't add the Flash Games, Poll and Private Messages mods. Could someone please help me.
Heres a link to my forum http://teamunited.gotdns.org/forum/default.asp

Centurion,
There are a few ready built Snitz forums around, http://imageforum2001.securenet.net/forum/ is one of them. I use the image forum and it's probably got most of what you will require, there are multi language versions of it as well. |

Off hand, do you know if they've kept up with the security updates? I seem to remember reading that they were based off an older version.... (found it... if I am reading this right - yes.)
I've been thinking of going the pre-modded route with the church website I've got on my to-do list, but I don't want to use less secure code - or end up having to do the security checks myself and thus defeating the purpose of going with a pre-modded forum (maximizing the use of what little time I have).
getting back to the topic at hand, I know that there are one or two others out there - ServerHackers being one of them. I'd post the link, but for the life of me I can't remember where it is... i'm way past ready for my vacation. |

It just occurred to me that #1 in the first post is not a viable option because I would loose all of the posts and registered members that I have. Unless someone knows of a way to install one of these pre modded forums and still retain your data base. |

To the best of my knowledge some of them include some "upgrade" instructions.... Just remember to back up everything before you do anything! |

Centurion, I did not lose my database, all the posts/topics etc were still there when I had finished the upgrade. I had to make a few changes to the code, mainly the include/virtual statements, not sure if that was bad coding on Images part or what, but I believe that has now been sorted out.
The software came with reasonable instructions on the conversion. Put it like this I am NOT a ASP person in any way shape or form, I just went through the code when it came up with errors and then made the corrections. As AnonJr pointed out make a backup of the original forum first then try the upgrade. You should be able to back it all out if you do not like it or get problems. |
