Hello together,
I am not sure if this is the right way or the right place to candidate for the hall of fame / Excellence Award ? So please forgive me if it is not ;)
It is just a trial - but I am happy with my snitz for about 4 years and did a lot of customization. The basic page is German - just key points are also available in English - but anyway it should be self explaining..
To the facts: everything is based on the Snitz 3.1 SR 4 - i didn't do any updates since this version - all additional functionality is done by my own. The forum is not extremly styled in a new way but has lots of features and funcionallity.
So there are tree Shnitz forum frameworks running on my page - one used als FORUM, one for photostories (Fotostories in German) with rating and hitlist (Top Votes) and so on.. and the third one for classifieds (german: Kleinanzeigen).
It is a BMW Community platform which allows to search other members in your area by licence plate, or by zip code - even displays the distance to other members and the location on a map (all these function can be found on the "members" page in the forum..
all this three snitz frameworks are linked together - so in your profile you can see what photostories each person has created - furthermore each person can select one of his own fotostories as a featured one and so this photostorie ist automatically linked under the users name in each post or reply of this user..
subscription stuff or statistics / active users / birthdays and so on are partly used from mods availible here in the forum but all mainly customized and optimized
all other parts of the plattform are custimized mods or new creations.. see i.e. the part "Treffentermine" (which means event calendar for car-shows) based on the event calendar..
also the part "links"
especially download and nice2know section is a modified "links" framework..
many more functions and features I can't remember :)
So hope you are a bit snoopy and have a look - especially at the tree main sections FORUM, KLEINANZEIGEN, FOTOSTORIES

How about my question about the Award and Hall of Honor.. where do I have to candidate for that?

Nice job! It's a bit slow though, and the header is a bit crowded with links and text, but that's the only negative thing I can voice.
I sure hope though that you've applied all security fixes etc, since you seem to be running a very large community there!

Nooky, the only way to make sure you patch all security issues is to upgrade to the latest version of Snitz and reapply all your mods.

Nooky...I'm very afraid that there's indeed no other true answer than Shaggy's.....
Even though there are numerous security fixes released in the past, the difference between 3.1 SR4 and 3.4.05 is too big to span with just applying those fixes. A lot of functions have been remoddeled completely...
And, seeing the extend you modded your site, I guess migrating it to 3.4.05 and reapplying/rebuilding all custom functionality will be a lot of work.
It took me about 3 weeks of solid mod installing/finetuning last year coming from CrashCode 3.3 to Snitz 3.4.04 ; upgrading from 3.4.04 to 3.4.05 was nothing more than applying security fixes though. |

Also, there have been a couple of security issues that presented such a risk that they were never published, an updated version of Snitz was released with the fixes applied.
