I have a problem with my e-mail function due to the unix/linux server I'm using. I don't know if I should give up on it just yet, but here are a couple other alternatives I have considered.

1. I was wondering if I could install the PM mod despite e-mail not working. Does this mod need to use the sendmail feature?

2. I have 1 SQL database to use. Would there be a problem installing a second forum in a new directory just to test scripts? I would not make posts or anything that would modify the database (other than the fields added by the mod), just script testing. Is this a big no no?

1. Yes, if you're not using the e-mail functions of the forums then the opeion to receive e-meil notification of new messages will not be available.

2. I'd recommend making a copy of your database to work off, just in case, or at the very least a backup you can restore to if you make a mess of things.
