hey I need to stop my forum (stop people from joining & posting). Ok I can proberly handle the members joining easily enough but how could I stop people from posting on my forum?

The reason is that I have changed platform and gone to PhP for a forum as it was getting quite busy & needed to move up from access & MySql looked a good option plus I needed extra levels and phpbb had a mod I could use.

So anyway what I have done is recreated my forum in Php and I will have to leave the current forum online for a bit as I missed some posts for 2 days while I did the upgrade and I want members to have access to those posts for a week or so before I completey close the old forum.

I actually used the "down.asp" file to close the forum but when I checked back in a few hours it had re-started?

I thought about deleting all the Post Buttons & links but I thought there might be a better way of doing this?
