I just moved my Snitz Forums (latest version) from one server to another, and in the process upgraded from SQL Server 7 to 2000. I was able to run the setup.asp file and all of the tables have been created on the new server. However, when I used DTS to import my data (in excel format), six of the tables could not be imported.

I want everything to remain the same as it was on the old server - style, users, passwords, topics, etc.

Has anyone experienced this or know why this might be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Andrea

Why are you importing from Excel format? Also, what kind of errors did you get?

Hello. Before I moved to the new server, I exported the data, using DTS, to an excel file. Now I am trying to import that data into the container on the new server. The error I receive is similar to this:

Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint PK_FORUM_BADWORDS_7E37BEF6. Cannot insert duplicate key in object FORUM_BADWORDS.

I get this same msg for six tables.

Are the primary keys duplicated in the Excel file or not? Did you check the option to enable identity insert for those tables, in DTS, while importing their data?

I got it! :) I was able to use DTS and transfer data and objects between the two SQL Servers. :)

The forum is up and running and all of the data and styles from the previous forum is there.

Thanks for your help.
