I'm in the process of setting up a personal blog/site, and I was really liking the features that WordPress offers. However, at this point I'm not ready to make the switch to PHP and MySQL. I'm sure that I'll want to move over to MySQL in the future, but I'm still comfortable with Access, and until my site gets bigger, it will suit me just fine.
Does anyone know of decent (preferably free) software out there that works in a similar fashion to WordPress? |

If wordpress uses ODBC to connect to its database, you can probably use Access. MySQL offers no great plusses over Access imho (triggers, sprocs, etc) other than price, and you're already licensed for Access (I assume)
Have a look at channel9.msdn.com - i think the site code is all available if it looks suitable, or maybe a DotNetNuke component will do what you want - try a few out on pureportals.com

I've yet to find a decent blog system for ASP and I've looked hard. Not that they don't exist, I've just yet to find a system that can rival WordPress or MT.
You can always use Snitz. My members post in a forum that I pick up by RSS and display on a different site. zx6r.com is where the posts are displayed. Click on any of the comments links at the bottom of the entries and you will see the original post in the forums. |
