Just an update to this...we have tried other forum software connecting to a SQL database, and it does work. What doesnt work is ASP. We have
tried other asp pages, and they also arent working.
We have already enabled active server pages in iis 6, and asp.net pages do work... ASP pages don't pull up.
Please, any suggestions welcome...

After a couple hours of searching, we found KB838176 that explains what happened.
Apparently we applied a security patch to 2000 that restricted 2003 to upgrade four .dll's.
We booted to safe mode, ran the MDAC compchecker, found the mismatch files, extracted the .dlls from the 2003 cd, replaced the files, rebooted, and then all was well.
Reinstalling MDAC does not fix the problem, you have to manually reregister these .dlls from the install CD. I believe the main .dll that needed replacing was oledb32.dll.
