ieSpellCheck works only with Internet Explorer. So FireFox users don't have a spell checker available to them in Snitz.
Is there a spell check mod available for Snitz?

I use Spellbound, excellent tool.
Google toolbar for Firefox also has a spell check that works great! I tested it out and it is pretty good. http://toolbar.google.com
I would recommend Spellbound over the google toolbar though.

Well that's two votes for "Spellbound".
But I think Shaggy hit the mark: ie; a mod that gives the Snitz forum a built-in spell checker.
Shaggy's link was to @tomic's very nice website where the mod is available for download. Now to find the time. . .
(and thank you for the quick replies)

Thanks, this is terrific! I know I'm at Snitz, but I have a vBulletin board. FF and the new Google bar won't spellcheck vBulletin. I keep going back to FF to see if I can get it to do what IE will, I guess that will never happen. Once IE7 with real tabbed browsing, not the crap they recently released, comes out, I guess I will just stick with IE. |

Cliff, you're saying you downloaded the new google toolbar for firefox from google but it won't spell check in vBulletin forums?
I already tested it with vBulletin forums and the spell check worked great. Might be something you not doing right or some setting making it not work.
Even if the Google Toolbar from Google doesn't work for you, you can always use the Spellbound extension with Firefox. You can right click in a form and click "Check Spelling" or highlight a single word and check the spelling. |

Davio, Yes, I installed the official one from the Google site and it will spell check the form field for the subject, but not the text of the message. I posted the problem on their site and one of the developers said this: "No, they are not text boxes. They are instanced controls. The WYSIWYG editor would not currently work without relying on these controls as provided by the Browser Manufacturers. If Google's spellchecker doesn't work in Firefox controls, it is a weakness of either Google or Mozilla not vB, as we didn't create the controls. They aren't taking advantage of Mozilla's implementation of these controls or the implementation cannot be used in that context."
Maybe I'll re-download and see if it helps. |

I just uninstalled is and re-downloaded and re-installed it. I posted text with clearly misspelled words and Google's says "The form fields are all empty."
What version of FF are you using? This is disappointing that it's not working for me in FF, I was looking forward to it. |

Ohhhh, you're using the WYSIWYG post form. I don't use that. I use the Standard one which uses the text box. My bad.
But in any case, Spellbound allows to you spell check in such cases. I'm going to check first just to make sure.
Not to mention, this is a beta version from Google, so don't be too disappointed. They might get that fixed before they officially release a 1.0 version.
I'll see if I can report that problem to google if no one else has. |
