Is there a setting somewhere that I set so that I am emailed if a post is waiting to be approved?

No. Best to make it a practice after checking emails to go to the forum and see if there are any topics that need moderation. You can also check out http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=58709 which a couple of us now use to help moderate.
