Yeah, I had that problem too.
The hosting company said it was the forum's fault, taking up too many resources, etc.

I switched hosting companies.
The next hosting company said I could use a mysql database but they couldn't make it work.

I switched hosting companies (again).
www.kiwihosting.com.nz wasn't the cheapest, but they are (for me) by far the best.
Snitz works perfectly.

If you ask nicely, you might get them to help you migrate your access database to mysql.
First, you might just want to try a new host and see if their server performs better for your access database.

Be aware. . .if you're looking for "free" everything,
you won't get what you don't pay for.

Been there, done that. I hope you heed my advice.

The way to diminish database size is, as HuwR stated, to archive old topics and delete all the old topics if you feel you can do without. Then you need to compact the database, so that free space can be reclaimed and the database shrunk.

IMO, your real problem may not be database size at all. It certainly has more to do with concurrent users than with DB size. Were I in your shoes, I would definitely get another host and would pick a Snitzer. They are used to Snitz issues and are competent at what they do. I would try to get a MySQL migration included in the package, or you could even try to use MSSQL instead (it would be a matter of looking at the cost of packages including SQL Server).

I'm continually getting errors aswell. The forums will fail but start working again without warning.

My db is 47mb with 920 members and 60,000 posts.
It's driving me nuts.

The ISP is blaming the .asp code, having established that he isn't actually allowed to look at the code, he's quite clearly talking poo!

It's now coming in all funny as if it's been detached from the style sheets and templates.

c.mackintosh, please do not double post. Issue continues at the Access forum. I'm locking this one.
