I have the forum set for when someone registers, they are supposed to get an e-mail link, to follow.

But this is not happening. What happens is they register, cant log on, and I have to go into the ADMIN and activate their account?

Is this the way its supposed to be that they cannot get in unless I go to pending members, and activate their account? Here is my setup I have at present. X = On

Select E-mail Component: ASPEMail CDOSYS (IIS 5/5.1/6) JMail 3.x JMail 4.x
E-mail Mode: On:X Off:
E-mail Server Address:mail.forum.com
Administrator E-mail Address: forum@forum.com
Require Unique E-mail: On:X Off:
E-mail Validation: On:X Off:
Restrict Registration: On: Off:X
Require Logon for sending Mail: On: Off:

You sure email to members works? Have you tested it recently? Cause it looks like your mail server may have problems. It's very unusual for both subscriptions and new member emails to stop to work, when nothing changed in the code... Or has it changed?

I havent changed anything. The only thing I did was use HIJACK this to remove CTXPLS exe files...and I downloaded SPYBLASTER which is an ad blocker that prevents popup ads from getting into your computer.

Could there have been a forum cookie that got deleted?

People who register register, but do not get an e-mail with a link.

They appear in the Members Pending admin, and cannot get in unless I activate their account....

So, the forum is not sending them an e-mail to register.

Subscriptions used to work I used to get e-mails from forum@forum.com

And now No one gets anything....when posts are made. I am subscribed to the Whole board..

I am going to send myself an e-mail from the forum to see if the e-mail works....

I e-mailed myself from Profile here, and in my forum...

Each Forum has a different e-mail address...and I got neither recieved.

So, is it my server e-mail isnt working? Or is something in Profile not working?

Maybe your host has upped their anti-spam controls and you need to code in some extra authentication lines in the aspemail component in inc_mail.asp. That happened to me recently.

Thank you I did. And it started working ....sort of, now the mail goes to my Yahoo e-mail address but gets dumped into the spam box, instead of inbox...

It used to go to inbox, but some mail is better than No mail. Thank you for the help.

If it get's dumped into the spam box, add it to your friends list, or whitelist, or talk to yahoo about that.

BTW, I checked out your profile. My Dad's family was from Portugal, somewhere called Mediera Del Sol.

You know anyone that has a modded forum with avatars, anti-spam registration mod, ip banning, availible for download? I am not good with MODS..I dont have that good an eyesight anymore.

Everytime I go looking for speedball, or a forum it has TOO many Mods in it...or, are these mods selectable?

Hi,

I suppose your dad's family they are from Madeira (Mediera Del Sol is not portuguese ). When usually people develop modded versions, mod's are not selectable.
I'm not the best person to talk about modded versions, since I use an old, base version. I've never tried many mods.

Wasn't it working already? Why are you changing the configuration?

No it wasnt working. The techs at my server keep telling me it is.

So I created a 2nd account with an e-mail address.

It seems, when I click on a users name to e-mail from the forum, no e-mail gets sent to them.

I then went and used the forums e-mail configuration(stmp server and mail server0 and set it up in outlook express, and it worked fine. So I know the mail server is working.

So, it seems, when they installed the avatar mod, which doesnt work at all, they did something to the forums e-mail capability.

The e-mail server works from direct outlook express e-mailing, e-mailing direct, but not from a users e-mail link in that forum.

Nor does subscription, nor does e-mailing any member from the profiles.

They have it setup up with ASPEMAIL.
