Not sure where I should post this as its not ready for release yet.
I'm about a third of the way there.

Base Snitz Install - http://forums.celtix.net (user:pass) demo:demo
Newsgroup Access - news://news.celtix.net

Its a fully threaded C# News Server which plugs into Snitz Forums without any code or database changes needed.

Thanks Ruirib for the help with the sql statements and to Joel Thoms for some of the source code - http://www.joel.net

Please Note:
Authentication is not yet supported.
If you try to post from a news reader the server will accept the post but NOT insert it into the database.
The naming structure for the newsgroup names is not finalised.
It is a bit buggy so If you get a "host not found error" I'll have to restart the server.
I don't plan to release the source code, just the executables needed and it will be free.
It has been tested with Outlook Express 6, News Rover and Mozilla Thunderbird so far.

If you register on the forums above you should be able to see the post in your news reader almost straight away.

The reason I'm posting this now as I would appreciate feedback / advice / suggestions.

e.g. Snitz NNTP should handle private/hidden/allowed member list forums easily but not password protected ones as the NNTP protocol does not support password protected forums (just news servers).

I'm about to start work on adding posting support to the server.
I want to get this working before I start on authentication.

This is a list of things which should happen when a user sends a post to a forum/newsgroup;
(assuming the user is allowed to post to the particular forum)

1. The subject and message body get passed through the chkString function.
2. The topic/post count & date is updated for the forum
3. The post count & date is updated for the board
4. The last member to post is updated
5. The topic or reply get inserted into the database.

Am I missing anything?
