Can the current Snitz Forum software version support dual use of the forum as either a forum or a listserve at the subscriber's discretion? Both Yahoo Groups and Google Groups do versions of this, but I need to integrate 5 different lists/forums with a web site under construction and want to retain the flexibility subscribers now have at Google.
Extensive searching and browsing of this Snitz forum suggests vaguely that Snitz can be configured to send email to all forum subscribers, or individual subscribers can choose to get email for particular topics, but a forum will not accept posts via email from subscribers? Are my choices limited in this way? Is other open-source software out there that can better mimic the dual use capacities of Yahoo or Google Groups? |

No Snitz is not designed for this, it is an online discussion forum, what you have at Yahoo/google is actually just a web front end for the listserver it is not the same thing, it is because of the proliferation of forums such as Snitz that list servers now have web front ends. if you require similar functionality then you should be looking at list servers with web interfaces not online discussion forums.
