I am a moderator for KitchenAid Conversations. We currently have version 3.4.03. How do I go about installing the latest version? Would this be something I can do? Or, should I have Whirlpools IT department handle this?

What benefits are there for us with the latest version?

Thanks!

Claire

3.4.03 to 3.4.05 are bug fixes and security fixes so it would be good upgrade. I don't think there are any major features added.

Do you have any mods installed?

If not, simply download the new 3.4.05 files, adjust the config.asp to point to your database, and run setup.asp. Of course, it would be wise to backup your database and 3.4.03 files before initiating this.

Well the good news is that it doesn't look like you have any MODS on there, or even changed, apart from the logo's and the colors which are controlled by the DB (apart from the physical logo image), so it should be a sinple upgrade by copying the new files over the top, then run the setup.asp file, upgrade the DB and away you go with no loss.

Cheers,

It really is very simple to upgrade. There are some minor changes to the admin panel but the forum itself isn't really any different apart from having all the bug fixes that you should have.

Do make sure that you keep a back up copy of your forum database just in case something goes wrong.

Good luck.
