keep in mind that even tho youlock a topic admin can still post to a locked topic. Are regular users still able to post to a locked topic? Have you tested this?

Yes, regular users can post to a locked topic. The only mod I have done is the one that allows you to delete posts by member.

I just looked at your site and at this thread which you have locked
http://www.normanboats.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1754&whichpage=3

It is locked and the reply to topic button has a red X on it and there, however without a test user name or password no one can check it further

I've set up andretti as username with password of pass for a test. Checked again and posters can still post to that topic

u are quite right... I was able to post to a closed thread... I wonder if it coul be a permissions problem in the fact that your general users are getting more access then they should?

Either that or there is a problem with the Mlevels and that will take someone else to help youwith

Was topic.asp changed by the mod? I would advise you to backup that file and try using a normal, unchanged, topic.asp. If with an unchanged file the problem is fixed, you just need to review the changes suggested by the mod and apply them carefully to topic.asp, again.

Wouldn't it be a problem with post.asp as well? Shouldn't it display an error message if a member tries to post to a locked topic?

Search is your friend

fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had
taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.”

You're right, post.asp needs to be treated in the same manner.
