Have created additional forums but in each, if posting a reply to a topic, poster gets taken back to top-level forum page instead of the topic.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks ruirib
I'll give it a try tonight when I can take the forum off-line.

You're right on top of it as usual. The Referer MOD took care of the above issue and the registering / screen looping bit as well. Many thanks. Check out Video Friends It's just getting off the ground and I've much left to do but feel good about what I've got so far.

Next step is to upsize to SQL Server as I know Access is going to choke sooner than later. Already have found and am following your instructions on dB creation and the next step is copying content. Appreciate the help.

I don't know what other people see without a login, so if you need one please reply.

moshe,

The issues you were facing were related to the use of a firewall or some other app that blocks the HTTP_REFERER info. The mod tries to overcome that.

Congrats on your forum. When you feel you want some comments, suggestions, (even same criticism ), post a topic on the Show Off Your Forums forum.

Update:
Am still sometimes experiencing the above listed problem, but only in forums that have been added to the original group. Took the precaution of cleaning out data from the copied tables before I did "Add New Forum" via the Forum GUI. Am I missing something else?

I do invite all comments and suggestions. Thanks

Can you create a temporary admin account and email me the login data? I would like to try it myself.

Before doing this, if you are using a firewall, you can try to configure it so that the referer info is not blocked by the firewall.

Haven't been able to get back with you til now. My apologies, but how does one assign admin privileges to an account?

Edit the member profile from members.asp and assign him admin level.

Interesting
I have tried to set up a new member account twice and after receiving the validation email, I click on the link and get "Page Cannot Be Displayed"

I will send you my admin login and change my pass after you've looked around

Thanks

moshe,

The issue with the registration was fixed. The forum URL was missing the .com part and that was causing it.

I tried replying both with old topics and a new one I created. There was no problem whatsoever. If the problem keeps showing review your firewall settings, though the issue should have been solved by the mod I suggested you to install.

Hmmm... reviewing your post after mod installation. WHat you mean with 'copied tables' and 'original group'?

Saw your tests. Thanks for checking it out.
I never asked first but following logic, after posting to a topic, one should be returned to the topic that was posted to - right? It just doesn't happen always on any of the forums except the original one entitled "General". Although my web server sits behind an ISA server, (MS enterprise-wide firewall sftwe.) I haven't experienced problems of this nature on another Snitz forum I run on my box but then again it's a default - no MOD - Version 3.4.03. The problem is only showing up on this one and only on added forums. (See below)

Re: Explanation of tables. (You must explain this properly Moshe!)
This may be inconsequential but when adding new forums, (for the first 3 of four I have made) I was just copying the original tables, renaming them in a schema that I had decided on, and deleted all data. Then on the latest one on I have done, I copied "Structure Only". Was just asking you if either of these methods would cause any issues.

Thanks for any light you could shed on this.

When replying to a topic, you should be returned to the topic, yes. I will try in other forums.

I still don't understand the issue regarding the tables. New forums are created using the forum functionality, namely the pink folders on forum.asp. Just let the mouse hover above the icons and check the shown info.

Yes to creating forums, I did it that way. After copying tables as you had explaied to me at:
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=57381
I went to the "Create Forum" folder icon and walked through the steps.

Update:
I just FTP'd my mdb over to my machine and had a look at all my new "created" tables and they are empty. I am apparently operating under a misunderstanding. Can I email the mdb to you for your perusal?

Hi ruirib
Recieved the altered dB and put it up. All's well and thanks again. I won't make that mistake again. Did you notice the "Equipment" list in the LH column? I also changed the "Hobbies" text area to read Equipment. It helps when working with people having all sorts of problems.
