I need a recommendation on a database management system for use in uploading files to a web server and linking to those documnts and files from the web site. I am looking for:
  • Open Source classic ASP (no components).
  • MS-SQL DB (2000).
  • ASP Upload.
  • Password Protect the application as well as the files.
  • Web Interface.
  • Minimum editing on my part.
  • Scalable.
  • Reports.
  • Export to XSL.

Regards,

Mo

I would recommend NOT storing files in a database.

You're not really looking for a database management system, that term usually refers to an application like MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, DB2, Access, etc. You're probably looking for a Content Management System.

www.aspin.com and www.hotscripts.com are a couple places to look.

If you do choose to store stuff inside the db, take a look here

www.stardeveloper.com/articles/display.html?article=2001042501&page=1" target="_blank">http://www.stardeveloper.com/articles/display.html?article=2001042501&page=1

This is an access-based tutorial but should be pretty easy to convert to mssql server.

I am actually looking for something like this one http://www.webscriptsdirectory.com/ASP/Documents/Fixit-Document-Management-System-L334/ but more robust.

Or this one http://www.dmxready.com/dmxready.asp?mid=5&incid=11&ItemID=15 except it is not tested for MS-SQL.
