I am displaying some RSS Feeds onto my website. Does anyone see any problem with changing words to links to other pages on my site that are in someone else's RSS Feeds that display on my site? The link back to the actual article in the RSS Feed will always be present, but some other keywords would just be link's back to another page on my site.
A example would be if I am displaying a hosting article on my site. Anytime the keyword NT Hosting appeared on my site I changed it to NT Hosting |

I would think it is legally a bit dodgy if you are altering the content of someone elses rss feeds, they are still covered by copyright |

Well, to be honoust, I don't really think it should be considered a problem. You're not actually changing the content; your adding links. So, I see no problem in that. Plus, the person/site providing the RSS feed _must know_ that the RSS feed will be read somewhere, or displayed on some other peoples site. |

Here is some text from another forum on this subject. Anyone have any comments? I think he has valid reasons..
quote:
I do.
If I wrote an SEO article and cirulated it using an RSS pheed, I wouldn't want someone linking to their own resources using my words as it will/may appear to readers that I endorse or recommend an article or software, when in reality the opposite may be true.
Put your links AROUND my pheed, but not IN my pheed.
Let's make it more extreme...Let's say you have a pheed and is picked up by another webmaster and everytime you used the word "child" in your pheed, it linked to a porn site?
Would you like your article to link to resources you didn't intend?
Let's not forget RSS pheeds are NOT public domain and still carry copyright protection, which includes "fair use". IMO, changing the content of the pheed is not "fair use".

This was my worry too and why I think not a good idea. |

How about, if the keywords are found within the feed, you simply add them to an array or something and after the feed add a list of links entitled "Read more on this site"? Could make for a long list of links if you pick up a rake of keywords, but it's an idea.
