I'm a noob to this and was wondering if I need a ASP editor and if so any suggestions as to which one?

I checked FAQ but only saw empty folders any and all help welcome

Nope. Just notepad that comes with windows.

You don't need one, but a basic little something that displays line numbers can be very handy.

As for suggestions: I have been using Aranaea, and I have no complaints whatsoever.

thanks for the info I downloaded that Araneae, so now I'm set there I just don't know much about how or what I'm doing kinda learning as I go but I appreciate all your suggestions and help and will probably be asking more stupid noob questions just bare with me tho.

There's no such thing as stupid questions, we were all learning at some stage - indeed, I think you'll find we all still are - just make sure you familiarise yourself with the search here; you'll probably find a few of your questions have already been asked and answered

Yeah, we all began knowing nothing. I do remember my first time here years ago....now I can setup a Snitz forum in my sleep...!

For ASP development I use Hapedit at http://hapedit.free.fr/ which is freeware

for comparison I have been using beyondcompare from http://www.scootersoftware.com which is great but not free and allows you to compare local files with remote files over ftp.

I think I'll look into winmerge though.
