I am currently helping someone move their forum from their current host to a new one. Now the space is run by someelse and I need to request the files.

Hopefully I'll be given all the files needed, but which ones do I defo need (the others I can re-install). (got a feeling they arent'gona co-op)

Also is there way at looking at the forum and seeing if it using MS Access, MS SQL or MYSQL.

I currently creating a new forum, so I can practise before I have to do the swap.

Am I right by thinking I can just drop the folder in the webspace and re-run setp.asp.

Your help would be great.

Open config.asp and check the uncommented value of strDbTyp. From it you will understand what DB is being used.

You should just upload the all the snitz files into a folder, just as if you were installing for the first time. You can check the readme file (link in my signature) for directions.

Hi,

I should have thought of that.

The person who has the forum, developed it and hosts it for my friend. Does this mean I need to get their admin logins.

Also on a another note I am not too familiar with databases. Correct me I am wrong but many hosts put the MySQL file on its own server, so how can I get a copy of these over?

Thanks

Not sure I will request the files now, just wanted to make sure I get all the correct files. But will post back if I need any more info. If you can just let me know if I need to request thier login details.

Find the database being used and then you can determine how to get your DB or DB data.

I have found out it is a access database. I think I will only be able to get access to the members info, but what info do I need to get if I was trying to move across the whole thing?

If I just get the members info does that mean I have to create an access forum and then convert that to MySQL. As I want to let it have room for expansion.
