I have already done this. Check my Rewrite of the Report to Moderator mod as well as the Optional Update for this Mod in the Add-on Mod with code section. Although I was hoping to work the read only capabilities a bit different I couldn't figure out how because it seemed as those priviledges were embedded into the base forum code and it would be too much of a hastle. Essientally in my addon I have just removed the edit's, reply's, and the new posts if the signed on member is banished.
Just remember to give it a default value of 1 so when they register it already efaults to a value of 1 then they won't be able to post for 12 hrs...but remember the flip side to this. If you do this you punish the good for the bad as well and if I ever went to a site that wouldn't allow me to post for 12 hrs I would find another site that would.....heh

Its not needed. I have just to check how long they have been member of my forum, and if its more than 12 hours (that could be changed in admin) they are allowed to post.
My forum belongs to my website where I have alot of regular visitors, so it wont be a such problem I think. Of course its bad to have that kind of restriction, but when people are writing spam, comming back when they are banned tend to make other good people leave.
