I got here by way of the "Snitz Forums 2000" link on the Red Hat Society website. I assume they use your forum's software. Their Admin has not been able to help me.

When I click on "Search" I get a string of numbers across the screen. I don't get a box in which to enter what, when, or where to search. It has not always been this way. Their Admin told me to delete my temporary internet files, cookies, and cache. I did, and the problem still exists. Can you help?

If you upgrade to the latest version that won't happen. You can even just use the search.asp page from the latest download instead of your current one.

I downloaded the latest version as you suggested, but this is all I get:

I am very inexperienced at this; what do you mean by: "You can even just use the
search.asp page from the latest download instead of your current one." Can you walk
me through this somehow?

Latest version is 3.4.05. I have installed in my computer and it does not show that. Maybe your server is caching the file. Can you rename search.asp into search2.asp pr similar and they try to access search.asp again? What happens?

Does Trish actually have access to the server ? perhaps I'm missunderstanding the first post but I got the impression that Trish was just a user of the forum in question, perhaps you need to pass this information on to the admin of the site?

Yes, Gremlin, you are correct. I am just a user of the forum. I explained the problem to the admin of the website for Red Hat Society, but I got the impression they felt it was a problem on
my end. That's why I came here.

I posted a topic asking if anyone else was experiencing the same problem. Several have read it, but no one has responded. So I don't know if I'm the only one having the problem.

It won't just be you, it will be others as well, ask your admin to update the search.asp page.

Thx Brangwyn, I hadn't seen it that way. Trish, sorry for the confusion, I thought you could change the source files for the forum. The site owner will have to fix it himself, so Gremlin's suggestion is the way to go.

Thanks everybody. I copied this whole dialogue and sent it
to the admin of the RHS website. In the meantime, someone
discovered that by scrolling far to the right, the "search"
box was found. That particular screen has never had a left
and right scroll at the bottom, so I didn't even look there.
Thanks again.

The need to scroll way over to the right is also a bug,
You should try and get the admin to upgade as there may also be
potentially damaging security issues with the version they have installed which
if someone malicious came along could destory your forums.
