Hi,

I am starting a number of new forums for a Not-for-profit organization- TACGIS, with one being open to the public, and the others closed requiring application to be admitted. Some of the information in the closed groups will be priveleged, i.e. medical or psychological data discussed as 'cases' and cannot be viewed by the public. So the closed groups cannot not even have the 'topics' viewed by the public.

Any suggestions of where to look for how to set this up?

By the way, the web site is www.traumaabusecare.com

Cheers! David

You can do this with Snitz. If you enable Private Forums in the admin area, you can restrict individual forums by a few methods.

Password Protection
Registered Members Only
Hidden Forums
Allowed Members only
and a few combinations of each.

For such sensitive data, how are you going to verify that each member is who they say they are?

Hi Podge,

Thanks. But in the admin. section I fail to see any reference to the option of 'private forums'. As far as private info. it is data that cannot be referred to by the name of an individual but can be as a 'case', but still we do not want to take any chances. Most all our members in these areas will be or are professionals who have a credential trail that is fairly easy to verify. Another organization providing these kinds of discussion groups for professionals is LSoft who specialize in software for hospitals, etc. But it is too pricy for our organization. We have other ways to qualify people as well.

If you are signed into the admin section Click on Feature Configuration then select Private Forums: On Then from the default.asp page just select the pencil icon in the forum you wish to make the private forum and voila all the listed options above are there!

Am I reading this correctly, you are setting up a totally seperate board for the private stuff?
If thats the case in admin features, main forum configuration, require registration on and prohibit new members on then you manually ad the members you wish to view the boards.

If you are using the same board what ever forums you want to have selected access to you edit the forum to only allow selected members.

Sign in as Admin click the pencil in the forum then you will see a field for Auth Type this will allow you to restrict members with a few choices

TACGIS, the default pages is default.asp. Just click the All Forums folder, near the top left of the Admin Options page and you will be taken into the default page. Then just click the icon, for the forum you want to make private, at right side of the page, and all the things written in the previous posts will become obvious.
