Hi all,

I have been using Snitz Forum for some time on our website and I must say to not much use. This is due to the (lazy) visitors and not to the product. What I was thinking of is would it be possible (or indeed has been tried) to change Snitz into a weblogging facility?

Such like Blogger.com etc. webfeeds and so on.

Rgrds,

Pieter

I imagine it is possible with a lot of modification, but you have to ask yourself if you want to go through that.

There are alternatives to this.

You might want to check out any syndication and slash mods.

These will display content from out your forum onto another external page.
Some even have to option to turn reading from hidden forums on or off,
meaning you could create a hidden forum, start a topic in there and let
a javascript read that topic from out the forum into a new page.

This way you will only have top update that topic daily/weekly/monthly and
you will have your blog.

Do a search for syndicate, slash, or article mod...those might inspire you

Greets,

Dominic

One of our moderators, Roland, converted a Snitz forum to a fully functional Blog, but I can not remember his web address.

It was Rakkoon.com but he's since closed it.

you can install Marcle's sidebar mod

keep in mind that it requires the following mods to be installed:

1. Message Icons
2. Avatars
3. Poll Mod
4. Event mod
5. Date of Birth instead of Age for member-details (for the Upcoming/Recent Birthdays)

Rabofu, I'm sure it's possible, but....it's not a sidebar then is it?
It's designed to be a sidebar, taking up a small piece of the horizontal space, and expanding vertically, so I think you need to do some extensive remoddeling and rewriting to get it done.

yes you right....in that case we could call it "bottombar"!??
Seriously, I wouldn't change the current page width of my Forum, so I've thought to place it horizontally....but if you talk of "some extensive remoddeling and rewriting", you scare me....

Okay i dont now what you have of forums code, but you can use contentdisplay to that.
DisplayContent 1, 77, 2, 8, 0, 3, 150, 0, 5, 1, 1, 0, "weblogs", "100%", "logfeed.asp"

The 77 is my forums id to my test fora

Yes my boys if you only have to use weblogs, there have you only to coppy this file to our forums.

admin_config_sidebar
logfeed.asp
weblogs.asp

Include this file on all page abow.

inc_func_sidebar.asp

This works fine fore me.

Insert the lines there is uset to that in our config.asp

ContentDisplay is faster than sidebar.

Open the sidebar coppy that functions to a file cal that you want mybi ( inc_func_sidebar.asp )
That is all if you use Sh else crash code i have not try this to other forums code but i have rewrite this to my images codes forums but just now disablet Nobody have uset it,i have this only om my test forums home.

Or again a big thanks to marcelgoertz for this great fetures or sorry i have no demo page fore you.
