I'm looking for a way to tell me if a particular pc at a remote site goes offline or is shut down. It is a head office PC running XP Pro and sits behind a Netcomm NB1300 router with permanent internet connection and fixed IP. I have port-forwarding enabled for vnc and an application that sends and recieves data from other remote sites through a particular port. Is there a script that can sit locally on my pc and occasionally ping the pc through the router? ... and send me an automated email if pinging fails after a number of attempts?
