You'll mainly use the archiving feature when you have a lot of posts on your forum that haven't been replied to in several months (or longer). Archiving will help the performance of your forum quite a bit, since there will be fewer records to filter through for the scripts.
To answer your second question, no. In the base code, there is not a way to un-archive topics. However, I believe there is a MOD either in this forum or at snitzbitz that does exactly that. You might want to check it out. |
