A mod to cover links or other info and only show them to users if they have replied to the post in which the link/info can be found:
here's an example, this one is for an mp3 download, but there must be more uses for this than that.
Example: http://www.illhill.com/screenshot001.jpg
Please let me know if something like this exists, or how to do it.
Greets & thanks

Come on! I have 24 views and no one can tell me whether this is possible and if there's already a mod for this?
This is crazy, 24 views and nothing....my other post had 36 views and nothing neither ans both things I ask for are very common things in forums:
- The Number Of Viewing Visitors (Guests And Members Combined):
For example: (24 Viewing)
- A Hidden Content Part That Will Show Up When Someone Replies. (As In Giving Props, Or Agreeing He Or She Really Want To See The Content, sort of like a more advanced version of the spoiler tag).
Now, are both these things really that crazy for me not to get any help on this? If so, than please tell me.

You give us a link for a page where you have to be a member to see what you mean. Thats not good
I'm sure if someone knows anything about "this" then he/she will tell you, so dont worry to much |

why not simply use the feature that Snitz already has. You can make a category for Members Only. |

Because this will attract more visitors to your forum. Because they can see it, but can't get it yet.
They have to start posting first before they get the content, which forces your visitors to be active.
I'm using the members only board at this moment, but I saw this and it made me wonder.
Please let me know if and how this can be doen.
Greets & thanks

I would like to say that IllHill may need to chill out a little both here and at SHN forums.
I know what it like looking for mods and stuff, but i dose take peeps a while to locate or figer something out.
Most peeps have posted things here and never had a reply, yet I dont see them getting frustrated.
How ever i do remember seeing a mod here that allows you to see hidden text by high lighting an arae with hidden text then the text would show.
Would that be any good.

Seems like the spoiler-tag, which I already have, it really has to be something which shows after someone has proven to be active, by a post.
About me getting frustrated:
A) I have no clue what I did on SHN forums or where you are talking about.
B) I am one of those peeps who posted a whole lot of things and never have received any reply even when it's situations where I posted good suggestions on things that would not only be interesting to me, but to a whole lot of sites.
The thing frustrating me is when I see 30+ views and no reply what so ever, I don't mind if nobody is interested, but please at least tell me, don't view my reply and then totaly ignore it.
My motto is that if the title of my post was interesting enough for you to read the post, then at least be decent and add your two cents to the post (as for example dayve, pee wee and Helterskelter did at this post).
Look up my name and you will see a bunch of really specific and detailed questions and suggestions which I never received any reply for.
Just my 2 pennies.
Greets & thanks

ILLHILL, to answer your question ... everything is possible. It all comes down to 2 things.
1. Can Snitz already accomplish the goal using a different approach. The answer to this is yes. There are already features in place to allow only members to view content.
2. Does anybody want to spend the time is requires for a feature that perhaps not a lot of people will use. The answer is probably not.
I think you'll find that a lot of people that get help here are those that actually give back to the community as well. Priority tends to go in that direction, from at least what I have observed. Priority also goes to supporting the base code, or for mods that have already been completed. It's difficult to keep providing answers to one person and much easier to provide something for a group of people, especially those that have contributed to this community in the first place. |

You are totally right on point 2 and I appreciate it.
But: " 1. Can Snitz already accomplish the goal using a different approach. The answer to this is yes. There are already features in place to allow only members to view content."
This is absolutely not what I meant. The function of the thing I menat is that everybody will see that the ocntent is hidden by -in the example used- an image. Before they can view the content hidden underneath that image they first have to reply to that specific topic, so it has nothing to do with " hidden forums" etc. It has everything to do with hidden content inside a post.
Please view this link as it can make it so much more clearer than I can with words:
http://www.illhill.com/screenshot001.jpg
And I really believe that with this you force people to be active if they came only to "steal/leech" content. So it musn't be a hidden/member-only forum, the key is in the fact that everybody know the content is there.
In the example they used links to mp3 files.
People visit that forum, download the mp3s and don't add anything at all.
NOW, after this feature, they are forced to log-in, and reply to the specific topic so the image hiding that link will disapear after they have replied to the topic.
Now, the funny thing is that ever since members are being forced to reply to posts, that they also become more active in the other forums, probably due to the fact that they become aware that they are already logged in.
So, hidden or member forums are not what I am looking for, UNLESS there is a way that every member with a certain ammount of posts or a certain rank can enter them (example: 100 posts+ to be able to enter the forum)
But, this is something different which I have asked in another post: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=56599
Greets and thanks,
Dominic

Here's a better way to envision how it works....forget mp3s.
As example I will take a pop-quiz question:
Someone posts a question, hides the answer underneath the hidden-content-block, members post replies in which they guess the answer. Soon as a member has replied with a guess, the hidden-content will no longer be hidden in the post and the member can see if the answer he posted is right, or comes close.
Here's how it looks: http://www.illhill.com/screenshot001.jpg
