I use Visio Technical heavily at work, but we have users that want to start utilizing the software for some of its features to build organization charts and work flow processes. However, we don't want to spend the amount of money it will require to push it out to the many desktops that would need it. I thought I once came across a thread here at Snitz that had a link to an open-source or freeware version of a similar piece of software. Is there such an application that can do what Visio does for free or cheaper than the original?

One open-source sort-of equivalent is Dia, which runs on W32 or Linux.

I have installed it OK on XP but haven't really spent any time with it and don't know exactly how to use it yet.

Yeah, I found that one as well today... not sure I like the way it looks but I may give it a whirl. I found a really good one for Linux called Kivio but unfortunately I don't see my organization porting over to Linux any time soon... at least not for the workstations.
