Hi, our forum admin has left us, and we need to change the forum Admin and remove his user account and rights.

We are running a modded Snitz 3.4.03 forum, we really don't want to start all over again with a new forum since the forum we have now has been "on air" for almost 2 1/2 years, and has 3258 users and 74979 posts.

If anyone can help us we'd appreciate it

edit: Running Access DB

Best regards
Anders

No need to lose the forum at all.

Is there another admin account?

Ok, so all you need to do is change the old admin member level to a normal member and then lock his account. No need to delete the account, since a locked account will not allow him to access the forum and all he has posted will remain available, as I think that would be the best option.

Then you need to find out your member id (it's the last number on the URL when you visualize your personal profile. Then edit this line in config.asp:

Const intAdminMemberID = 1

Replace the number in red with your member id and you are all set.

So I have to edit his member level in the members db?

I can also find my member ID in the User DB while I'm already in there to Edit his member level? Right?

Another question: When I open the database I get a mesage saying That the DB was created whit an earlier Version, point to the database tools in the.... and so on. If i convert the database to Access2000, will it still work with the forum? I can't edit the db whithout converting the DB to a newer version

You don't need to go into the database to do what ruirib suggested - You need to set Const intAdminMemberID to your Member ID by editing the file config.asp .

You can edit the member's level when you edit the other admin's profile, from the profile page. Do that after doing the change in config.asp. You don't need to edit the DB for that, the forum pages allow you to do all you need.

Anyway, you can convert the DB to Access 2000 format. It won't bring any problems, but keep an old version copy, as a standard precautionary measure.
