But, I'm about to embark on this journey into the unknown. I have secured a free webhost, Web Samba. Anyone ever hear of them? I was able to access their server via ftp, but there are no directories installed and since I've never worked on a Windows server before, I could use just a little guidance. In Linux, everything, "mostly" is inside public_html. Is it the same on Windows? Geez, I haven't started yet. I'd appreciate any help. Mark |

In windows you gotta ask your server to set the read/write configuration for files/folders. |

Your domain would be www.websamba/yourname
Which means you store all your files under 'yourname' folder under wwwroot, which is actually the directory you see when you get in ftp.
Just upload all the files in that directory or create you own sub-dir, www.websamba/yourname/sub-dir

Right now, when I connect via ftp, I see nothing. What would be the first directory? Mark |

Just upload all the Snitz files, including the database It is advisable to place your database in another folder, seperate from your asp files, and to rename it, so that hackers can't easily guess the name and download it. |

Ok, I finally got around to doing the install and got this:
ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd'
Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
/SundayNiagara/forum/Default.asp, line 91
Any ideas? Mark |

Have you run setup.asp yet? It sounds like your database hasn't been configured yet. Just go to the setup.asp page, and that should get you going. |

I ran setup.asp and it said the forum was installed. However, when I clicked to go to the forum, I got this:
HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error

I've already done the "Internet Options" deal and still get the same error. Mark |
