Just installed the latest version of the forum. But I can't seem to get email validation AND restricting registration to work together.....at least not the way I'm thinking it should work.

I'm thinking that it should do one of the following with both enabled:
1. When the person registers, an email is sent for them to validate their email address with a link for them to click on. Then they show up in admin for me to activate the account.

OR

2. They register and then when I activate the account they are sent an email notification with a link to validate their email address.

The email IS working because the subscriptions notifications works. Also, if I turn off "restrict registration" then the email will be sent out, however, then I don't need to activate their account to give them access (which I definately need to be able to do). If I have both turned on, no email is sent for email validation...neither before nor after account activation.

Has anyone run into this? Or am I hosed up in the way I THINK it should work?

Thank you,
Mickey

Are you approving or activating their account? Approve means they will be sent an email. Activate means they will have instant access.

No instant access. I want to be able to approve them and also have them validate their email address. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Mickey

As Nikkol wrote, if you look at the accounts administration page, you will have the option either to approve the members or to activate the account. If you choose the option to approve them, the validation email will be sent. If you choose the option to activate the account, no validation email will be sent and the users can access their accounts immediately.

Thanks.

It was not clear to me that it is an either/or situation.
