Hi everyone. I have successfully set up 3.4.05 on an intranet. Everything works. I have published the entire forum to the Web site. I can log on and view members, but no forum contents appear. I am using Access - not SQL. This message only appears on the web site. I have tried all the Access strings in config.asp. Any ideas?

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/formhs/inc_func_common.asp, line 576

Have you tried doing a search for "Operation must use an updateable query" on this forum ?

Point taken! Security on the folder at the host end. I had a small inkling that it was the problem. I was diverted from this since I had set up a similar system a few months ago with the same host and had no similar problems. Anyway, I have checked security on the web site and the folder is set to read/write/execute - so it is not a read/write permissions issue.

What about the database though ? depending on how the database was placed in the folder the parent folder permissions may not have been inherited. It's almost a certainty that the error is permissions related somehow.

pemass, how are you reading the permissions? Is it with a FTP app?
