I just installed Firefox 1.0 to see if they added an option to always open links in new tabs and skip the whole extra windows thing (the main reason I dislike Firefox), but when I visited my site I got warnings about cookies.
Why in the world does Firefox think my site uses cookies while it doesn't unless you want to view certain images, and even then it's by choice?!?
Any ideas anyone? |

Don't know the reason for Firefox thinking you use cookies. Perhaps try posting a message on http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php?c=4
But... to answer the question you had initially: if you use the Tabbrowser extension, you'll be able to control the total behavior of Firefox and tabs.
BTW. I didn't have any problems on www.frutzle.com . Just turned accepting cookies to off and had no problems. |

Thanks, I'll give that extention a try :) The Tabbrowser Preferences works... somewhat. There's no way to check the options because of a bug in the extention that appears to be normal if you look at the huge number of results on google.
Oh well, it's not really important anyway. |

Can you explain this? I didn't understand you
But I did have about 50+ opened tabs at one point without a problem. |

When I installed that extention, I couldn't check the extention's options because of a bug that many people have encountered and thus seems to be more of a feature than a bug.
I've pushed Firefox aside again. It's too much of a pain in the rear to use it as the default browser. |

If your site is an asp site IIS will send a session cookie to the browser.

Roland, if you dislike Firefox, why not use another browser? You're not stuck with only one browser. There are options and you have the power to choose.
But for anyone alse who wants to try it, you can make external links open up in a new tab instead of opening a new window. http://texturizer.net/firefox/tips.html#beh_reuse
I use the extension called "Single Window" which traps links that wants to open in a new window and open them in a new tab. http://www.mozthemes.tk/ --> Extensions --> Single Window. |

David, I would use another browser if it wasn't that the Mozilla-flavored browsers are alike and thus have the same tabs-issues I dislike (not just the ignoring of the tabs feature and using multiple windows, but also the fact that tabs are stuck in place), Opera is a piece of poo, and IE has too many problems. None of the IE shells I've tried are as nice as or lack a lot of the functionality of Netcaptor, but lately it's been crashing on me and not even an uninstall & reinstall fixed that. So I'm SOL and stuck with the least-poopy of the browsers; firefox.
Maybe it's time to format and start fresh. I hope my software will get reactivated when I get around to doing that... |

Give Maxthon another chance, I've found after a week or so of using it over Netcaptor that I warmed to it, seems a little more stable than Netcaptor currently is (I've had some crashing problems with it as well). |

I'll take a look, but last time I tried avantbrowser I was really disappointed. It's weird how you can grow accustomed to a piece of software in such a way that if another (possibly better) program lacks one function, it's immediately "crap"... |

Yeah I know what you mean, I was really attached to Netcaptor as well, but I've been pretty happy with Maxthon (MYIE2) so much so that I've not even bothered loading Netcaptor again after the last reinstall of my PC. |
