Hi to all,
A number of years ago (4 in fact) we installed Snitz Forums 2000 Version 3.3.03. The developer at the time heavily modded and bastardised it to a point now that it is all but totally useless.
Anyway we have moved on and are developing a new site with the new Snitz Forums 2000 Version 3.4.05. Mods are strictly controlled now and all looks good.
We have been able to backup the existing data of over 200,000 posts for later insertion, but we are having one problem.
We want to keep all the member names and passwords. But every time we do the switch it breaks the new forum. Tables go missing etc.
Is there some where I can get some advise on a safe way to do this.
Thanks
Neil. |

Hey Neil,
Did my email help at all ?
Can you explain further how the switch breaks stuff ?
I think you might be better to try with a blank forum db, then copy the database over, then encrypt the passwords then test it. You have to have an enxrypted password in 3.4.x, but there are ways around that. |

Hi Laser,
Yes your email helped heaps. tar, I emailed you back.
Only thing we are now looking for is the image upload and insertion into a post mod. Given that we used to have it on the old site the members will be demanding it back.
Cheers
Neil. |
